The problem EtherWheels solves

Traditional carpooling systems often suffer from inefficiencies and lack transparency, leading to issues such as unfair fare calculations, safety concerns, and centralized control. EtherWheels addresses these challenges by introducing a decentralized carpooling solution powered by Web3 technology.

Unfair Fare Calculations:

  • Problem: Existing carpooling services may lack transparency in fare calculations, leading to disputes and dissatisfaction among users.
  • Solution: EtherWheels implements fair fare calculation logic using smart contracts, ensuring transparent and equitable pricing based on factors such as distance, time, and contribution.

Safety Concerns:

  • Problem: Safety is a paramount concern in carpooling, with users often apprehensive about traveling with strangers.
  • Solution: EtherWheels enhances safety through decentralized identity verification and reputation systems, fostering trust and accountability within the community.

Centralized Control:

  • Problem: Centralized carpooling platforms exert significant control over user data and operations, limiting user autonomy and privacy.
  • Solution: EtherWheels decentralizes control by leveraging blockchain technology and Campnetwork, empowering users with ownership of their data and governance over the platform's operations.

Challenges we ran into

  • Framework Selection: Deciding on the appropriate framework posed a challenge initially. After careful consideration, we opted for NextJS for its robustness and flexibility.
  • API Integration: Finding suitable and free APIs, and comprehending their intricacies, proved to be a daunting task. However, diligent research and collaboration helped us overcome this obstacle.
  • Fair Fare Calculation: Implementing logic for fair fare calculation was crucial. We dedicated significant effort to ensure equitable pricing, enhancing user satisfaction.
  • Contract Deployment: Deploying the smart contract on Camp Network posed its own set of challenges. Leveraging Thirdweb, we navigated through the complexities of deployment successfully.
  • Contract-Frontend Integration: Establishing seamless communication between the smart contract and frontend required meticulous attention to detail. Through rigorous testing and refinement, we achieved a smooth integration.
