ESP-32 integrated Decentralized Election System

Hardware integrated blockchain-based elections

The problem ESP-32 integrated Decentralized Election System solves

Inspired from real world events of "vote chori(theft)" in India where due to the negligence of the election commission, The results of the recent elections were allegedly tampered, and the citizens had no choice but to put their faith in the commission's words as there is no way to prove any misconduct otherwise.

This project was created to cater that problem, and through the integration of blockchain technology with a common microcontroller and RFID technology for verification, traditional election processes can be made alot more secure and trustable. With gasless transactions, voters only need to scan their RFID tags for personal verification after which they can simply choose their respective candidates traditionally just like before while the results are stored in a blockchain network and can be retrieved through etherscan.

Challenges I ran into

Integrating the esp32 with my smart contract was definitely a challenge, including creating an automatic wallet signup system through my backend. A webpage was created for seamless tracking of the votes, and a different section within the page for the election commission (aka the contract owner) to view and call out the results.
