The problem Equinex solves
EQUINEX solves the problem of slow, outdated stock data and cumbersome stock trading experiences by providing users with real-time market data, instant trade execution, and a seamless, user-friendly interface. Additionally, it helps users engage with a community of traders, where they can share insights, track market trends, and receive personalized stock recommendations. The platform’s integration of WebSockets ensures users receive timely updates, making it ideal for both novice and experienced traders who want to make fast, informed decisions.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges we faced during development was optimizing the WebSocket connection for real-time stock data updates. Initially, there were latency issues when fetching data, and the stock prices were updating slowly, which could affect trading decisions. We tackled this problem by optimizing the server connection and reducing the number of unnecessary requests, ensuring smoother data flow and faster updates. Additionally, integrating Google authentication was initially tricky due to token handling, but we resolved it by carefully reviewing the OAuth flow and integrating it with our backend securely
