The Problem ELVYRA Solves
Despite increasing awareness, women's safety in public spaces, transportation, and emergency situations remains critically inadequate.
ELVYRA addresses the root causes that continue to leave women vulnerable:
- Unsafe Public Spaces and Transport
Crowded areas, poorly lit streets, and unmonitored transport systems often expose women to harassment and assault.
Lack of real-time safety monitoring creates blind spots where crimes can occur unnoticed.
Women, especially those traveling alone or at odd hours, face heightened risks without immediate assistance.
- Delayed Emergency Response
Traditional policing systems struggle to respond quickly due to:
Lack of live crime tracking and predictive risk assessment.
Absence of immediate incident alerts from the public.
Delays in intervention often lead to escalation of crimes, where even reporting after the incident becomes difficult and ineffective.
- Safety Risks for New Visitors and Tourists
Tourists, newcomers, and migrants unfamiliar with city layouts face:
Difficulty in identifying safe routes and transportation.
Lack of easy access to local emergency contacts and crime pattern information.
Without real-time risk guidance, they unknowingly enter high-risk zones, increasing their vulnerability.
Challenges we ran into
-
Backend System Integration
As we are still in the prototype phase, fully integrating the backend systems for real-time data processing posed a challenge. This limited our ability to conduct real-time risk assessments and fully automate data updates. Moving forward, we aim to enhance backend infrastructure to support seamless integration and scalability. -
AI Model Development
The AI-driven components, including crime risk prediction and personalized safety recommendations, are still in their early stages. While they performed adequately for the prototype, the models require further training and refinement to achieve higher accuracy and more context-specific recommendations. -
Real-Time Communication Mechanisms
We were unable to fully implement the real-time emergency alert system or integrate the SOS Band and AI cameras into the prototype. This limitation prevented us from fully testing the responsiveness and efficiency of these features, but these are top priorities for future development and integration.
