Eloqui Chat

Eloqui Chat

A fluently decentralised solution to an otherwise less secure medium of communication

The problem Eloqui Chat solves

The current state of social media is dreadful and constantly worsening. Originally designed to facilitate communication, these applications have become a nightmare for most people. Unlike centralised messengers, you don’t need to submit any personal details like your phone number or email address to make an account. Decentralised applications make use of peer-to-peer networks, this ensures that no network failure can occur due to central node failure. Blockchain serves as an immutable ledger which allows messaging to take place in a decentralised manner.

Challenges we ran into

Considering this was my (and my team’s) first hackathon based on Blockchain and WEB3. Everything implemented in our project was learned overnight, so we did face quite a lot of hiccups when it came to implementing metamask and IPFS into our project. We experimented with both Polygon and Ethereum test net for our smart contract and faced a few issues regarding the same. The majority of our time was spent figuring out a way to connect the backend and smart contract with our frontend.
