The problem EduVerify solves

EduVerify is a groundbreaking decentralized platform designed to revolutionize the issuance, verification, and management of academic and professional credentials. Leveraging advanced blockchain technology, EduVerify transforms traditional certificate systems into tamper-proof, immutable digital records that can be instantly verified, addressing major issues of fraud and inefficiency in current methods.

At its core, EduVerify empowers accredited institutions and organizations to issue digital certificates as NFTs, ensuring each credential is unique and securely stored on the blockchain. This approach eliminates the risk of forgery and unauthorized modifications, providing stakeholders with a reliable source of truth. The platform supports two primary user roles: student accounts, which allow individuals to securely access, manage, and share their credentials, and institution accounts, enabling schools, universities, and professional bodies to issue and monitor credentials in real-time.

Additionally, EduVerify integrates dual-mode authentication, allowing users to log in using a crypto wallet or through manual profile creation. This flexibility caters to both blockchain-savvy users and newcomers, ensuring broad accessibility. A built-in reputation system further enhances trust by assigning reputation scores based on the quality and number of verified credentials, encouraging transparency and accountability.

Designed with privacy and security in mind, EduVerify safeguards sensitive information while providing complete transparency in credential verification. By streamlining the verification process, EduVerify not only reduces administrative overheads but also redefines trust in academic and professional achievements, paving the way for a more secure and efficient future in credential management. EduVerify represents a pivotal shift toward a future where credentials are seamlessly verified and universally trusted.

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenges we encountered was figuring out how to mint NFTs for academic certificates on the blockchain in a way that was both secure and cost-effective. At first, each time we minted a credential, it racked up hefty gas fees and caused delays during our testing on the Ethereum testnet. To tackle this issue, we revamped our smart contract design by using ERC-721A for batch minting and brought in Polygon (PoS) as our Layer-2 scaling solution. This clever move slashed transaction costs by more than 90%, making it feasible for institutions to issue credentials on a larger scale. We also adopted IPFS for metadata storage, which helped lighten the load on the blockchain while ensuring that our data remained both affordable and unchangeable.

What is your product’s unique value proposition?

EduVerify really shines by merging the transparency of blockchain, NFT based credentials, and a reputation system elements that are often overlooked in traditional credential verification systems. Unlike typical certificate repositories, our alpha build showcases:

  • Institutions issuing NFT credentials straight from their dashboards.
  • Instant verification on the blockchain via QR codes or wallet lookups.
  • A dual-mode authentication system (Web3 wallet plus standard login) to enhance accessibility.
  • A reputation scoring system that fosters trust-based verification among users and institutions.

This alpha version effectively proves the fundamental value of decentralized, tamper-proof, and easily verifiable credentials delivering both usability and trust.

Who is your target customer?

Our main customers include:

Educational institutions like universities, colleges, and training centers that provide credentials.

Students and professionals who require secure, verifiable certificates for job applications or further studies.

Recruiters and employers looking for a fast, reliable way to verify credentials without the risk of fraud.

We confirmed this target audience through feedback from over 200 students and more than 10 academic administrators, who shared their frustrations with the slow process of manual verification and the issue of certificate fraud. Initial testing with faculty and students showed that EduVerify’s user-friendly design and blockchain transparency effectively tackled these challenges head-on.
