The problem Educhain innovation in education solves
The Problem It Solves
Access to quality education, especially in blockchain technology, is often restricted by financial barriers. Many aspiring developers struggle to afford premium courses, while donors and industry leaders lack a transparent way to support deserving students. Additionally, verifying educational achievements remains a challenge, with centralized institutions controlling certification.
How It Helps
Decentralized Course Enrollment:
Users can enroll in blockchain-based courses securely by making payments through smart contracts.
Instructors receive direct payments, eliminating intermediaries and reducing transaction costs.
Scholarship & Donation System:
Ambassadors and sponsors can donate funds, which are transparently stored on-chain.
Scholarships are distributed to students based on eligibility, ensuring fair access to education.
NFT-Based Certification:
Students who enroll in a course receive an NFT certificate, which serves as an immutable proof of learning.
These NFTs can be used to verify skills and achievements across platforms.
Security & Transparency:
Smart contracts handle all transactions, reducing fraud and ensuring fairness.
Blockchain enables full transparency in scholarship distribution and fund allocation.
Challenges we ran into
While building the E-learning Scholarship Platform, we faced several technical and architectural challenges:
Smart Contract Ownership & Security
Initially, we encountered an error with the Ownable contract requiring an initial owner to be set.
Solution: We explicitly passed msg.sender in the constructor to ensure contract ownership was properly initialized.
NFT Issuance for First-Time Users
We needed a way to ensure that students receive an NFT certificate only upon their first course enrollment.
Solution: We introduced a hasNFT mapping that tracks whether a student already owns an NFT, preventing duplicate issuance.
Scholarship Distribution Logic
The scholarship funds were initially overwritten instead of accumulating when multiple donors contributed.
Solution: Modified the donateScholarship function to accumulate contributions instead of replacing previous donations.
Handling Course Purchases Securely
Ensuring users pay the correct amount and instructors receive payments securely.
Solution: Implemented a require check for sufficient funds and used payable transfers to send ETH directly to instructors.
