EDU APP
Our project is mainly to reduce the rate of dropouts in India and make a interactive learning platform, through this we can reachout to the rural kids.
The problem EDU APP solves
Our project is dedicated to improving free, high-quality education in rural areas, in alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development goal number 4 of Quality Education. The current government school enrollment rates indicate that only 59.6% of children are enrolled, which is unacceptable. Education is a crucial aspect of society, and we firmly believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that every child in India has access to quality education. We were inspired by the RAH Foundation's contributions to education, but they lack the technical expertise to encourage more students to pursue education despite family issues. The Indian Constitution strictly children under the age of 14 from working for wages. This is aimed at preventing child exploitation and promoting education. Despite this regulation, inadequate living conditions, lack of basic amenities, and insufficient parental guidance can hinder their ability to explore. Our objective is to resolve these challenges through our application by providing quality education to deserving children. We will achieve this by offering consistent assignments/activities that help them learn engagingly.
Challenges we ran into
We wanted to extract text from an image using machine learning, but we couldn't get the image data from streamlit canvas in png form to store locally. We tried using cv2 to fetch a PNG image, but realized later that Pytesseract couldn't extract the handwritten sketches from it. We initially failed, but eventually found a solution with Google Cloud Vision API. However, pricing became an issue. We faced some minor challenges in angular configurations as the new version 17 released recently and we wanted to use the new features. We also faced minor bugs while setting up the backend to frontend connections but stackoverflow helped us immensely, and made us realize the importance of patient but efficient Googling. We also and resolved new challenges in using git command line commands.
