Making Meds Easier and convenient, instead of being a pet peeve

The problem EasyMed solves

When you think about hospitals, are the things that come to your mind along the line of messy appointments, long queues, waiting alongside sick people and hectic time schedules ? Our project, EasyMed is an initiative to bring about a smoother, efficient and convenient experience in the healthcare industry.

Often, people visit hospitals / clinics when they're mildly sick or ill. However, that often leads to long waiting times, travelling to and fro between your home, the pharmacy and the clinic. We aim to target these deficiencies and make the whole experience much easier to provide relief. We have created a three way communication system between the doctor, the patient and the pharmacy, with more emphasis on the patient's convenience.

Our idea goes along the following route -> When the patient visits the hospital / clinic and the doctor, the patient's details are stored in database, which can be viewed by the doctor and the patient on the Easymed mobile app. The patient's ailment / illness is treated and the prescribed medicine can either be forwarded to a pharmacy which can then home deliver the medicine or allow for on-shop pick ups. The specific doctor is assigned to the patient and can engage in a two way conversation in case of an issue or question.

We have created a web dashboard for the doctor and the pharmacy for easier dealing with patients / orders. The mobile app for the patient can give timely reminders on when to eat which medicines and at what intervals. They can also order directly from the pharmacy or set up orders on a specific interval.

Overall, we believe that our idea, once implemented has the power to revolutionize the medical industry and has potential for much growth in the future. The hackathon has been a fun jouney and If given a chance to professionally develop on this project, we'd be all in for it!

Challenges we ran into

  1. We have thought of a project that can completely revolutinize the health industry but it involves a lot of time resources to be invested which cannot be completed in 48 hours. Hence, we've tried to make a toned down version of our project for this hackathon.
  2. We had absolutely no idea how to develop an app. We tried to code our app using React Native but had to drop it halfway as it would not have been completed in the time slot. Hence, we went ahead and made a prototype for our app using Figma.
  3. Communication. Being a new team and not being familiar with each other, we had some issues with proper designation of roles.
  4. For all the team members, this was our first hackathon ever and working under a time constrained project has been an eye-opener as well as a amazing journey. A much wholesome experience.
