The problem dwin solves

There are many DAOs that do good for our society and planet. A number of ways are used to fund these DAOs, often through fundraising or donations.

dwin first helps to encourage voting participation by adding excitement and financial incentive to the democratic process, which suffers from voter apathy as a widespread issue.

dwin allows a wealth redistribution by providing a betting layer to the votes of DAO proposals that have a financially strong and greedy community.

The winners of the bet have a choice do distribute a % of their earnings to dwin that, together with a 5% fee applied to the winners, invests in vetted DAOs that support the good of our planet and society.

Challenges we ran into

• Testing ether balance changes, resolved using

  hardhat-chai-matchers

  testing extensions.
• Getting React to render chain event data, resolved via a night of head-banging.
• Making the flow simple enough to be implemented during the hackathon.
