Seamless local payments for tourists
The problem Durian solves
95%+ of Thai merchants accept ONLY QR payments (PromptPay, TrueMoney). Tourists CAN'T access these QR systems—they need a Thai bank account + Thai national ID.
Durian creates a tourist-accessible QR payment gateway. Merchants use their existing QR workflow. Tourists pay via Revolut or USDC. Backend handles crypto → THB conversion instantly.
Result: Tourists pay how locals do. Merchants access 1.8M tourists who couldn't pay before. $500M+ unreachable annual spend becomes accessible.
You can check the tx's of the payments in this link

Challenges we ran into
-
QR Payment Intent Verification
Tourist scans QR → how to prove merchant actually created it? Without proof, merchants could dispute payments.
Solved: Primus Labs zkTLS—merchant signs intent, tourist verifies on-chain before paying. -
Frictionless Merchant Onboarding
Merchants can't manage crypto wallets. Needed <2 minute onboarding.
Solved: Privy email login → auto non-custodial USDC wallet created. No seed phrases. -
Tourist Payment Friction
Tourists don't have crypto wallets. Revolut integration complex.
Solved: Dual payment options—Revolut (90% of tourists have) + USDC (crypto natives). -
Merchant Education
Thai merchants don't understand crypto terminology.
Solved: Dashboard shows THB values only, hides crypto jargon. "Receive Thai Baht instantly." -
THB Offramp
USDC → Thai bank account requires regulatory partnerships.
Status: Phase 2. MVP focuses on USDC wallets first.
