Why are you participating for Based SEA?

We are participating in Based SEA to explore the potential of blockchain technology in gaming, especially in creating transparent and trustless environments for traditional games like Durak. With Base as a secure and efficient layer, we aim to connect communities in the SEA region with an innovative gaming experience that brings their cultural favorite games into the digital space.

What challenges are you focusing on?

We are addressing the challenges of transparency, trust, and fairness in online gaming. Traditional gaming platforms rely on centralized servers, which can be susceptible to cheating, manipulation, or unfair game rules. In regions like SEA, where digital gaming is rapidly growing, there's a need for decentralized and fair gaming environments that eliminate these issues.

How does your submission address this challenge?

Our Durak on Base project introduces the concept of decentralization to a well-known card game. By utilizing smart contracts and blockchain mechanisms, we ensure that the rules of the game are strictly enforced without bias, making it impossible for players to cheat or manipulate the game. This creates a fair and secure gaming experience for all players, no matter their location or device. The potential impact includes greater trust in online gaming, opening up opportunities for real-time competitions and community engagement, especially in regions like SEA, where gaming communities are expanding.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we encountered included:

Implementing the random card distribution function in a decentralized manner, ensuring that neither players nor external actors could manipulate the card draws.
Maintaining a user-friendly interface that could communicate with the Base blockchain without overwhelming non-technical users. To overcome these, we optimized our smart contracts for gas efficiency and developed an intuitive front-end that simplifies interaction with the blockchain.

Additional Features

We implemented a reputation system during the buildathon, allowing players to track and build their rankings based on fair play and wins. This system was added to further foster community engagement and encourage competitive play within the SEA region.
