DSTAYS

Peer to peer real estate rental agreement between two parties

The problem DSTAYS solves

Moving rental agreement between house owners and renter in Real Estate to blockchain hence cutting the cost of the middlemen such as broker fees

The process renting houses in most part of the world still has an involvement of brokers.

We're trying to eliminate this and allow the property owners to directly connect with tenants and create an agreement that is on chain and allows for a secure and fast way to manage the assets.

Superfluid is being utilized to stream the rent from a tenant to owners account in real time, so the tenant has a zero obligation to transfer the complete rent at once and instead only needs to maintain a minimum amount that's sufficient to fulfill the rent payments.

Rentals can be cancelled at any point and the rent stops and the security deposit is transferred back to the tenant on chain, so there's no chance of fraud or any other issues that might arise due to involvement of a middleman.

Challenges we ran into

Since we're very novice at blockchain development, it was quite a journey for us to learn about the whole ecosystem, the tools and resources that are available, and decide on a process flow for our project.

We were worried about the fluctuations of crypto tokens so we decided to utilise a stable coin (Dai).

Initially, we were working on matic testnet to reduce the transaction costs, but since superfluid was not working properly we had to switch to rinkeby testnet.

We also wanted our platform to be able to show images of properties, but since it can't be stored on-chain, we learnt about IPFS, to be able to store the images and still maintain the decentralised nature of our product.
