The problem Donor Chain solves
Traditional charity platforms often encounter problems like lack of trust, high administrative costs, fraud risks, and insecure fund transfers. These problems are created by the concept of centralization. We aim to provide a hybrid solution for all these problems. Our one-stop solution aims to provide a platform to eliminate all these loopholes.
Our project donor chain is a hybrid platform that introduces the concept of blockchain to charity works, it grabs the basic idea of 'chain transparency', secure transfer through 'smart contracts', and develops a trustless system to trust on.
It promotes easy, seamless, and peer-to-peer transfer of funds across the globe without the government getting involved, Smart contracts help automate the funding through 'scheduled transfers' or 'mile stone-based funding' and reduce the risks of frauds getting involved.
We included the features of "Crypto transfers" by digital wallets(Metamask) and "fiat transfer" by the payment gateway(Squareup), this made the platform user-friendly for both crypto & non-crypto users. Further, we aim to provide donation badges, and coupons to KYCs verified users to make this platform incentive-friendly for encouraging the donors.
In conclusion, our platform empowers charities and non-profits to gain a strong relationship with donors through the use of technology to build a trustless system that encourages both the charity and donors to continue.
Challenges we ran into
When completing this project we ran into a major wall ourself. We were so fixed on making this platform as decentralized as possible that we overlooked the possibilities of what will happen after the donor of organization have withdrawn their funds as fiat instead of crypto.
This also introduced the possibility of black money flowing throughout the chain in the form of crypto and illegal funds which are unauthorized by the government.
We overcame this obstacle by introducing hybrid system in our project, which included payment gateways like squareup and razerpay. This introduced the verification of centralized entity and also helped us to verify the donor via KYCs.
