DocPort

DocPort is a mobile app that helps patients in finding the most suitable healthcare provider and with the same app, doctors can view patient's past reports before the scheduled appointment.

The problem DocPort solves

India is a diverse country and now in this tough time where the entire country is fighting with a deadly virus, it has become difficult for the senior citizens and the little ones to move out even for a regular health checkup. This app is a small initiative made by Team DOT to help not only them but all age groups to avoid physically going and waiting in queues for a regular check-up. By using DOCPORT, patients/healthcare seekers will be able to book appointments to visit their trusted doctors and avoid the long crowded queue for safety purposes.

Presently, finding the right doctor is based on word of mouth and a patient cannot know beforehand which doctor is suitable for them. To solve this, our app makes it easy to find the right healthcare provider for the user and makes the appointment process easy.

With the help of NDHM APIs, the doctor has easy access to the patient's health records using DocPort.
In the future, we plan to use machine learning and custom APIs for finding the best doctor possible and carrying out the appointment process respectively. This will be the handy app both doctors and patients can use to overcome the present difficulties.

Challenges we ran into

The NDHM gateway sometimes wasn't working properly which lead to a lot of misunderstandings and a waste of time. The data linked to health ID was somehow not in proper form and I couldn't fetch the data using the APIs. Even after using the finarkein-hiu-fiber, there were issues with the final data fetching process due to which one part couldn't be completed in the project. Even when we tried creating a new Health ID but the sandbox phr app won't accept IDs with the suffix @ndhm. So, unfortunately, we couldn't overcome this issue.
