What challenges are you focusing on?

At DockMed, we focus on solving critical challenges in healthcare through blockchain technology, addressing issues around data privacy, payment inefficiencies, and trust in healthcare providers. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the key challenges we are focusing on:

1. Data Privacy and Security in Medical Records

Challenge: Healthcare records are vulnerable to cyberattacks in centralized systems, leading to breaches of sensitive patient data.
Solution: DockMed decentralizes medical records with blockchain and zkProofs for privacy, making data tamper-proof and inaccessible to unauthorized parties, which reduces breach risks. We also provide gas sponsorship for cost-effective blockchain transactions.

2. Payment Fragmentation in Healthcare

Challenge: The healthcare payment system is fragmented, particularly across borders, leading to delays and high transaction costs.
Solution: DockMed facilitates cross-chain payments, enabling patients and doctors to use their preferred cryptocurrencies. This system removes traditional barriers, ensuring seamless, low-cost transactions globally.

3. Lack of Trust in Healthcare Providers

Challenge: Patients struggle to verify the credentials of healthcare providers, especially online, which reduces confidence in telemedicine platforms.
Solution: DockMed uses ZKP verification to ensure only authenticated healthcare professionals operate on its platform. Decentralized identity verification confirms that patients and doctors are who they claim to be, fostering trust in the ecosystem.

4. Inefficiencies in Prescription Management

Challenge: The traditional prescription process is prone to errors, delays and miscommunication, particularly in cross-border cases.
Solution: It digitizes prescriptions on the blockchain, ensuring they are tamper-proof and easily accessible. Patients can redeem prescriptions directly on the platform, with transaction fees covered.

How does your submission address this challenge?

Our submission, DocMed, directly addresses the challenge of privacy, security, and inefficiency in healthcare by leveraging blockchain technology to decentralize medical records, enable secure cross-chain payments, and verify healthcare providers. These challenges are prevalent in today's healthcare systems, where patient data is vulnerable to breaches, and payment systems are fragmented and costly.

DocMed solves these issues by:

• Decentralizing medical records on the blockchain, ensuring privacy and tamper-proof security.
• Facilitating seamless cross-chain payments, allowing patients and doctors to transact using their preferred blockchain, reducing inefficiencies and costs.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of DocMed, we faced several technical and operational challenges, particularly around Cross-Chain Compatibility, Decentralization and Privacy, and Provider Verification. Here's how we tackled these hurdles:

1. Cross-Chain Compatibility:
   A major challenge was enabling seamless payments across different blockchain networks, each with unique protocols. To solve this, we integrated CCIP MultiHop Router technology, which bridges these networks and supports multiple blockchains. This allows users to pay in their preferred currency while ensuring smooth, secure transactions for healthcare providers.
2. Decentralization and Privacy:
   Ensuring the privacy and security of medical records while decentralizing data storage was another complex issue. Blockchain offers decentralization, but ensuring patient data privacy within a decentralized environment was a major concern, particularly with sensitive medical information. We addressed this by integrating zkProofs and the Ethereum Account Service (EAS), which allowed us to verify and store medical records securely on-chain without exposing sensitive information. This cryptographic solution allowed us to achieve both decentralization and privacy, keeping patient data secure and verifiable without sacrificing confidentiality.
3. Verified Providers:
   Trust is essential in healthcare, and we wanted to ensure that only authenticated healthcare professionals could join our platform. Verifying providers across different regions with varying credentialing systems was challenging. We implemented ZKP to ensure the authenticity of every doctor and healthcare provider on DocMed. This system ensuring that only trusted, qualified professionals are onboarded.
