DNA- Definition's Not Applicable

Love, respect and equality

The problem DNA- Definition's Not Applicable solves

The mission of DNA is to increase awareness among people about the LGBTQ+ community, especially among Indians.

The picture is bleak for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth in India. Many face harassment and bullying, and to avoid humiliation and violence they often skip classes or drop out of school altogether. While the acceptance of LGBTQ+ identifying people by the Indian society has improved significantly over the years, the disturbingly frequent headlines of hate crimes committed against them tell us that we are still leagues behind in becoming a nation that treats every citizen as equal.

Through this project, we hope to make it easy for people to understand and learn about the community, so that more and more people are educated to treat their peers with the same respect and love, regardless of who they are identified as.

Challenges we ran into

Our team is a group of beginners who have some knowledge of front-end web development. This was our first hackathon as a team, as well as an individual.
We didn’t have any experience of how to organize our work for a hackathon, nor did we have any experience with frameworks and back-end development.
Through the course of the project, we faced a lot of challenges that we did not anticipate.
The biggest challenge that we faced, was to implement the backend for the website since none of us had any experience in the domain. We took help from resources available on the internet and tried our best to learn and implement the features.
