This Konkani rendition of the Divine Mercy Chaplet was introduced on February 2nd, coinciding with the celebration of the Presentation of Jesus Christ.
Father Noel Menezes, a Pilar priest stationed in Carona-Aldona and the composer of this chaplet, mentioned that Goans and Konkani speakers everywhere now have a fresh Konkani tune for their prayers.

The Pledge
The concept of crafting an original Konkani melody for the Divine Mercy Chaplet, a well-loved prayer ritual among Catholics globally, was conceived by Joel Fernandes, a seasoned sailor from Velim with academic ties to South Tyneside College in the UK.

Joel, who is also the project’s producer, shared, “During my time at college, I encountered classmates who practiced the Divine Mercy Chaplet, also known as the 3 o’clock prayer. They talked about the wonderful blessings it brought.

Driven by curiosity to experience these blessings, Joel made a spontaneous promise to promote this prayer in Konkani if his own prayers were answered. In his quest for the chaplet’s text, Joel discovered a musical version in English that had captivated over a million viewers on YouTube, prompting him to make it a part of his daily routine.
