In the contemporary dining scene, customers and restaurants alike face a gap between menu expectations and the actual dining experience. Traditional menus offer limited information, relying on text descriptions and occasional photographs that can't fully convey the essence of a dish. This often leads to hesitation in trying new dishes, decreased customer satisfaction, and missed opportunities for restaurants to showcase their culinary creations. Our solution bridges this gap with augmented reality (AR), transforming the menu browsing experience. By enabling diners to visualize dishes in 3D on their table before ordering, we aim to demystify menu options, encourage adventurous ordering, and ultimately, enhance customer satisfaction and restaurant performance. Restaurants can leverage this innovative tool to increase order size, reduce order errors, and optimize menu offerings based on real-time analytics, thereby improving efficiency and boosting revenue.
Scaling : Major Hurdle in completing the project was scaling the AR model to the size of the restaurant table as it is going to be projected on that . This will depict the quantity of food served .
Frontend / Backend integration : Another hurdle faced was there was a lot of data and analytics(Pie chart , Revenue) to be transferred back and forth between backend and frontend .
Cross-Platform :Developing an AR application requires expertise in AR development platforms such as Unity or ARKit/ARCore. Ensuring smooth performance across different devices and operating systems can be challenging.
