Digital E-waste Management

Our Project is based on an App that is designed by us to focus on responsible handling of E-waste.

The problem Digital E-waste Management solves

In India, the quantity of “e-waste” or electronic waste has now become a major problem. Disposal of e-waste is an emerging global environmental and public health issue, as this waste has become the most rapidly growing segment of the formal municipal waste stream in the world. We are developing an integrated network which will deal with proper disposal or implementation of used electronics gadgets of consumer and manufacturer. Our moto is to design an app which will facilitate the consumer to place their inoperative electronic gadgets in e -waste bin.

Challenges we ran into

  1. The major hurdle is the way people will get used to such a new thing. We can get over it by putting posters and banners about this App in every electronic appliances Shops and Showrooms. Also we have organised some bonus points and rewards to persons submitting or posting maximum number of e-wastes.
  2. Another hurdle was to separate large appliances and small appliances, as disposing of the e-waste depends on the size and type the appliances. We can get over it as we separated two sections in the App as Large appliances and Small appliances, so appliances such as refrigerator, television, microwave oven etc. are categorised under Large appliances and appliances such as speakers, headphone, mobile phones etc. are categorised under Small appliances.
