The problem Digipod solves
NFT technology has seen a lot of traction in recent years but it is still in its infancy. Therefore, many of the use cases remain to be explored or even found. However, for many creators the technical challenge that they face when dealing with blockchain technology still limits the experimentation. At Digipod we want to help solve this problem by giving creators the tools they need to challenge the limits of NFT technology. We do this by creating no code solutions for the mint of complex concepts products such as the well known collections or open editions, but also new ones we want to see users play with such as subscriptions! Being our implementation of the later our flagship product built within this hackathon. With this creators will seamlessly be able to create advanced concepts, which in the case of subscriptions can be used as mint passes for artists future works, work as Music albums or even digital card games packs! The idea is to take all the technical burden from the user and make the UI/UX as simple as possible.
Challenges I ran into
One of the challenges of building subscriptions is that we want to ensure onwership for the user of all NFT minted. However in the way we do things a regular ERC721 contract would not work. The logic is: collector defines amount of Subscriptions to sell and the nr of rewards. Each subscriber will be able to mint those rewards later on. So the first challenge was trying to adapt an ERC 721 to behave properly according to our requirements. One of the issues building this was that there was an issue sometimes the user would not sell out immediately but users originally could already start minting rewards. So what would happen was we would fill the token ID of a subscription with one that should be reserved for a reward. It is way simpler if we do first IDs for the subscriptions and then for the rewards, by order. So our conclusion was that we need to guarantee that either we sell out or the user closes the sale of new NFTs before he can start submitting rewards! Another challenge had to do with implementation of merkle tree allowlist. In foundry we used Murky library, but for the backend we actually used a open zeppelin JS script. These actually behave differently, with OZ implementing a double hashing tree to avoid mirror images. We had therefore to fix this to match he JS implementation.
