The problem DeSciCrowd solves
DeSciCrowd addresses key issues in traditional scientific research funding, such as centralization, inefficiency, lack of transparency, and poor reproducibility.
It enables researchers to raise funds through a decentralized, milestone-based crowdfunding platform built on Solana and it ensures high-quality, verifiable research outcomes. Community-driven peer review with token incentives further enhances transparency and trust.
By making the funding process open, auditable, and outcome-oriented, DeSciCrowd empowers the global scientific community to fund and validate impactful research in a secure, efficient, and reproducible way.
Challenges we ran into

Smart Contract Integration:
Integrating milestone-based logic on Solana using Anchor was initially complex, especially with cross-program invocations and managing program-derived addresses (PDAs). We overcame this by breaking down the logic into modular instructions and referring to Anchor’s official examples and community forums. -
Coordination Between Modules:
Managing interactions between the smart contract, frontend, and the DAO logic required clear interface boundaries. We created detailed flow diagrams and tested each component independently before integrating. -
Web3 Frontend Issues:
Wallet connection and transaction signing had some inconsistencies across browsers. We debugged this using Solana wallet adapter documentation and by switching to stable packages.
