The problem DeHealth-Records-Management-System solves
Overview
Our project addresses the critical challenges of centralized medical record management, including data breaches, unauthorized access, inefficiencies in data sharing, and limited patient control. By leveraging blockchain technology, we propose a decentralized solution that ensures secure, tamper-proof, and patient-controlled medical records.
Key Features and Benefits
- Secure and Tamper-Proof Records: Blockchain's immutability safeguards sensitive health data against unauthorized modifications or cyberattacks.
- Patient-Centric Control: Empowers patients to manage their medical records, granting access only to trusted healthcare providers for specific durations.
- Efficient Data Sharing: Enables seamless, real-time sharing of medical information across healthcare institutions, reducing delays in diagnosis and treatment.
- Resilient Architecture: Decentralization mitigates risks of system failures and centralized vulnerabilities.
- Emergency Accessibility: Facilitates instant access to critical patient information during emergencies, ensuring timely and informed medical decisions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Enhances adherence to data privacy standards like HIPAA through built-in security and transparency mechanisms.
How It Solves Existing Problems
- Enhanced Security: Eliminates reliance on vulnerable centralized systems, reducing the likelihood of breaches and unauthorized access.
- Streamlined Processes: Reduces administrative overhead by automating data verification and sharing.
- Improved Collaboration: Fosters seamless communication between hospitals, labs, and specialists, avoiding redundant procedures and ensuring better patient outcomes.
- Helper: We have developed a tutorial session for the beginners who are using our App.

Challenges we ran into
Challenges Faced During Project Development
Our journey to build a decentralized blockchain-based medical record system came with significant challenges:
-
Exploring Blockchain Platforms
We began with Ethereum but explored alternatives for better scalability and efficiency. Platforms like Polygon, Aptos, and others presented limitations, such as integration issues and lack of documentation. Eventually, we reverted to Ethereum, which provided the required stability. -
Database Integration Issues
Attempting to use MongoDB for metadata storage was challenging. Connectivity issues and middleware complexities disrupted the workflow. Limited time further prevented us from resolving these issues. -
Time Constraints
The tight timeline required us to prioritize core functionality over advanced optimizations. Debugging and refining complex integrations were postponed to meet deadlines. -
Scalability and User Experience
Balancing system scalability with a user-friendly design was difficult. Challenges like transaction latency and gas fees required meticulous adjustments to ensure smooth operation. -
Framework Adaptation
Building the solution demanded significant effort to tailor the architecture and components to meet our specific requirements, requiring extensive modifications and testing.
Despite these challenges, we successfully developed a functional prototype that addresses key issues in medical record management, gaining valuable insights along the way.
