The problem Degen Duels solves

Degen Duels allows players to compete in intuition and strategy in PVP mode, as well as earn $DUELS tokens by playing regulagrly and inviting friends.

Degen Duels differs from most web3 games in the form of the gameplay. The gameplay is simple and transparent. Each player chooses 1 of 3 elemental attacks: fire, water or earth. Also there is the Ether attack which beat every element and can be used only once per duel. There is no pay to win solutions or other ways to cheat. Every player has equal win chance.

Degen Dules will be available via web interface and farcaster frame soon making the game process fast, simple and convenient for everyone in the Base ecosystem.

At the first stage the game will be free to play but rewards are real. Players will earn $DUELS for winning and for helping in the game development. Later $DUELS token will become a key part of the ecosystem with burning mechanics.

Challenges I ran into

In general, our MVP-version lacked a quality frontend and visual design. We also realized that PVP mode alone was not enough, because not everyone is comfortable playing in real time and waiting for an opponent on a regular basis. That's why we went back to rework the concept and roadmap of the project. This led to the change of the network from Arbitrum to Base, as well as to the development farcaster frame interface and "player vs bot" mode

One specific bug was solved in the true web3 way. We found that some players could access their opponent's actions in a duel to use them to win by cheating. Obviously we strengthened the backend security first. But besides that we now encrypt all the actions of the opponents to make sure that only the platform itself can decrypt them. Now even in case of getting access to the opponent's actions, nothing can be done with it without the key to the hash.
