The problem De-Drive solves
Data storage is essential for any active business, big or small. From financial reports to customer information, business data is highly sensitive and confidential. This data is used in corporate vertical decision-making processes around the world. However, it goes without saying that businesses need to store their data in a safe and secure place.
As a company grows, the amount of data created or processed within the company and the amount of data accessed externally also increases.
Large amounts of data are very complex to store, process, analyze and retrieve. Businesses are increasingly relying on centralized storage solutions such as the cloud to simplify operations. However, given the downsides of the cloud and the highly dynamic nature of the technology, it is highly doubtful that centralized storage will ever persist.
We've already come a long way from traditional and cumbersome paper file storage systems to modern digital alternatives that are more flexible and reliable. Over the past decade, centralized storage cloud technologies have surpassed local physical storage devices such as hard drives and servers.
Lack of ownership and control
The enterprise data here is stored on a central host server. Hosts may monitor, censor, or disclose any data to third parties.
Increasing storage costs
Centralized storage eliminates the need for businesses to invest in servers and expensive storage infrastructure. However, cloud service providers charge exorbitant prices for bandwidth and data security.
Data breaches and security risks
In the past few years, data breaches have been reported by almost every major player in the industry. Centralized cloud servers are always in the same area. A power outage can paralyze the entire network and cause loss of some unsaved data.
Low transmission speed
The centralized server is located in a remote area away from the user's enterprise. Transmission speed is slow due to distance limitations.
Challenges we ran into
Learning Curve: Developing a decentralized application requires knowledge of new concepts and tools, such as blockchain, smart contracts, and decentralized storage. Learning these new technologies and understanding how they interact with each other can be time-consuming and challenging.
Security: Smart contracts are code running on a public blockchain, which makes them vulnerable to attacks. It's important to follow best practices in Solidity development, such as using safe math functions and avoiding reentrancy attacks.
Testing: Solidity smart contracts can be challenging to test since they are executed on a blockchain. Hardhat can help by providing a local blockchain environment for testing, but it may still be difficult to simulate real-world scenarios.
Decentralized storage: Using decentralized storage, such as IPFS, can be challenging to set up and use. You will need to understand how to interact with decentralized storage from within your Solidity smart contract and how to integrate it with your frontend.
User Experience: Providing a seamless and user-friendly experience for your users can be challenging, especially when using new technologies that may not be familiar to them. Ensuring the frontend is easy to use and visually appealing is important.
Deployment: Deploying a Solidity smart contract on the blockchain can be complex. You'll need to consider factors such as gas costs and the network you'll be deploying to.
Overall, building this project was indeed challenging but also interesting learning about multiple technologies, their usage and interactions and with the help of proper planning and testing we achieved what we aimed for thus, it was rewarding too.

Cheer Project
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
