Decentralwatch is a Decentralized uptime monitoring platform powered by Solana, with global validators submitting signed uptime proofs and earning rewards.
The problem DecentralWatch solves
Website downtime can hurt businesses, break user trust, and cause real revenue loss, yet traditional uptime monitoring relies on centralized services, which can be biased, opaque, or even manipulated.
DecentralWatch solves this by decentralizing the monitoring process. It lets anyone, from individuals to cloud servers, act as uptime validators using a lightweight desktop app or headless node. Validators check website uptime, sign reports locally, and submit them to a backend for on-chain validation and incentives.
This creates a tamper-proof, transparent, and censorship-resistant monitoring network - ideal for Web3 projects, critical services, and trustless infrastructure monitoring.
Challenges we ran into
Secure Wallet Management: Ensuring each human validator generates and uses a separate, locally stored wallet securely was tricky. We solved it by generating a fresh keypair stored securely on-device.
Validator Trustworthiness: Preventing bad actors from submitting false uptime reports was a key concern. We implemented signature verification and plan to incorporate majority voting and staking slashing to improve Sybil resistance.
Global Latency & Time Syncing: Validators in different regions had minor time discrepancies when pinging the same site. We fixed this with a ping-tolerance window and added a global clock sync fallback.
Incentive Loop: Designing fair rewards (in lamports) while preventing abuse took multiple iterations of validator scoring logic.
We're still improving — but solving these helped us build a strong foundation.
