The problem DecentraLand solves

Problem: Traditional land registry systems are often centralized, prone to fraud, and lack transparency. This leads to disputes over ownership, inefficiencies in transactions, and difficulty in verifying records.
Solution: Our platform leverages blockchain technology to create a decentralized, tamper-proof system for registering, buying, and selling land. It ensures transparency, security, and trust in property transactions while providing a user-friendly interface for seamless interactions.

Challenges we ran into

1. Blockchain Complexity: Understanding and implementing smart contracts required deep knowledge of Solidity and Ethereum development. Debugging gas optimization issues and ensuring secure contract deployment.

2. Integration with Frontend/Backend: Syncing blockchain events (e.g., LandRegistered, LandListedForSale) to the database for efficient querying was challenging but necessary for scalability.

3. User Experience: Balancing decentralization with usability—ensuring non-crypto users could onboard easily while still leveraging MetaMask for blockchain interactions.

4. Testing on Testnets: Testing transactions on the Sepolia testnet required acquiring test ETH from faucets and troubleshooting network delays.

5. Security Concerns: Ensuring sensitive data like private keys and API keys were securely managed using .env files and never exposed in version control.
