The problem DEBOOK solves

First of all, we solve a massive problem for authors. They barely make money. The maximum they will get is about 50%. With DEBOOK, authors earn 90% of the primary sales of their books. They also get to know their audience since the Blockchain is public and they will have their own private community with their readers. Before DEBOOK, authors had no idea who their readers were since the database is owned by the book publishers. There is no need for them to do unlimited books since they will also get a % of the secondary sales. Limited books are more powerful because the communities are more curated, and authors will make more money selling fewer books.

For readers, digital books don't add any extra value, so people still prefer physical books. Now your book is just the beginning, since it is a digital collectible (NFT), you get to access a gated community of each book you buy. You get to meet like-minded people, you get to interact with the book and share your thoughts, meet the author, add your feedback, sell it whenever you feel like and even rent it if you wish.

The Flow Blockchain is the best Blockchain to build DEBOOK on, because of many factors such as scalability, very little fees, and the possibility to make the experience very user-friendly, as well as the possibility to seamlessly onboard people into the ecosystem.

And the biggest and most exciting thing about DEBOOK, is that we are creating a web2.5 experience. We really believe that the way to onboard millions of people into the Blockchain is by giving them an experience where they get to leverage the blockchain without doing anything they don't know already. That is why buying a debook is as easy as buying a book on Amazon, but with the addition of getting access to features only possible through the blockchain.

Challenges I ran into

I had to learn cadence from the start, so that was a little challenging. But Flow makes it very easy and also there is great content online to learn. We also had to learn a great way to onboard users that have no idea about the blockchain. So we implemented a system that uploads their wallet to our database and thanks to Flow's Blockchain, we can simply fetch their NFTs running different scripts. It was a very fun week of learning this new language and thinking of new ways to make the experience better.

Overall, I am beyond happy I found the Flow Blockchain. It will allow us to make DEBOOK a very accessible and scalable platform!
