Providing Ability to Disability

The problem DeafAid solves

Problem:

==> When you are Deaf, you see the world in a different way. You communicate differently. You seek out others who are Deaf because they understand you. You don’t believe you have a disability and you don’t want to be fixed.”

==> With an aging population, more people are expected to be affected.

==> Communication with deaf becomes a challenge without a thorough knowledge of lip-reading and sign language.

==> There are limitations in sign language that it’s not understood by most of the hearing population.

Solution :

==> The DeafAid app makes it possible for a deaf person to communicate with a normal person without using sign language.

==> The system converts speech into text and thus allows the deaf person to simply read and understand the message being conveyed by the other person.

Challenges we ran into

Dealing with the user interface: Users have many different devices with different screen sizes. So the challenge is to create an app that can run across as many devices as possible. Countless mobile platforms have different limitations based on screen sizes, OS requirements, embedded technologies, pixel intensities, etc.
Faced challenges while integrating backend and frontend.
