Helping out people with profound deafness to be aware of their surroundings.
Situational awareness is being aware of what is happening around you in terms of where you are, where you are supposed to be, and whether anyone or anything around you is a threat to your health and safety.
Situational awareness is important to everyone – it is important that everyone is aware of their surroundings and the potential hazards they face.
According to UNICEF and WHO around 25 to 30 percent of people with profound deafness died due to lack of situational awareness.
Being able to help them find threats and sounds that require their attention can bring a greater change to their lives and it enhances the quality of their life and their community as a whole.
Sound localization was one of the most hectic task that we faced during the prototyping of our idea. Since sound is a varying variable to consider its mathematical factors to be considered for minimilistic calculations is a major factor.
Initially we made many literature reviews about sound localization and how time delay for each sersors can be studied but it requires many sophesticated calculations.
After around 16 hrs of continous and rigorous coding and brain storming we came to a simple idea of converting peal to peak amplitude for each sound sensers and converted the same to their respective voltage values.
The difference in voltage values of each sensors provided almost a best solution for sound localization and predicting the right direction of sound.
