DapTab does 2-way data augmentation, offering rich insights about moments when you browse your favorite news sites, or providing additional data about athlete stats, and upcoming games when browsing your Top Shot Plays/Moments.

With DapTab, you can effortlessly access recommendations, price histories, and all the information that a dedicated fan craves, quickly and easily.

Discover recommendations for moments from your watch list and receive suggestions for players who might capture your interest.

How does it work?
Our algorithms scan for keyword matches, team logos, and player photos (A.I facial recognition). Once a match is found, a subtle "DT" icon is displayed directly on the website, along with a"DapTab" tab located at the bottom of your browser.

Challenges I ran into

Originally we were trying to do a lot of the processing locally in the browser but the performance impact required most functions to be done using a serverless function (Firebase).

Wrangling the Top Shot graphQL took some time but once mastered proved to be an incredibly powerful API.

Chat GPT has limited access to data after 2020 so we had to integrate with several other 3rd party API's to get the latest player and team data, including pulling data from prominent news sources.

Matching player names presented some challenges, for example, both the NBA & Top Shot website often separate player first and last names in different HTML tags causing our keyword matching to miss, so for some websites we needed to create custom matching rules.
