Our project addresses several key challenges faced by users in managing and interacting with files, particularly in the context of downloading and extracting compressed files. Here’s how it makes existing tasks easier and safer:
Streamlined File Management: Users can easily extract files from ZIP archives without needing to install additional software. This simplifies the process and saves time.
Enhanced Security: The application includes built-in virus scanning to check for malicious files before extraction. This feature significantly reduces the risk of downloading harmful content.
User -Friendly Interface: The application is designed with a focus on user experience, making it accessible for users of all skill levels. Clear instructions and intuitive navigation help users complete tasks efficiently.
Cross-Platform Compatibility: The application works seamlessly across different operating systems, ensuring that users can access their files regardless of the device they are using.
Challenges we ran into
During the development of this project, I encountered several challenges that required creative problem-solving:
UI/UX Design Issues: Initially, the user interface was cluttered and confusing. To address this, I conducted user testing sessions to gather feedback and iteratively refined the design based on user input. This process helped create a more intuitive layout.
Standalone Application Limitations: Ensuring that the application functioned well as a standalone tool posed challenges, particularly in terms of performance and resource management. I optimized the code and conducted extensive testing to ensure that the application runs smoothly without requiring additional dependencies.
Virus Detection Mechanism: Implementing an effective virus scanning feature was complex. I researched various antivirus APIs and integrated one that provided reliable scanning capabilities. Additionally, I implemented a fallback mechanism to alert users if a file could not be scanned.
By addressing these challenges head-on, I was able to enhance the overall functionality and user experience of the application.
