The Challenge: Data updates made in the mobile app weren't immediately reflected in the web application, and vice versa. This lack of synchronization posed a significant usability problem, as users expected instantaneous updates.
Our Quick Solution: Given the time constraints, we opted for a temporary workaround and made cache system to store temporary data
Polling Mechanism: We implemented a polling mechanism where both the mobile app and web application regularly queried the database for updates. While not as real-time as we wanted, it ensured data consistency within the 36-hour timeframe.
Minimal Conflict Resolution: We added basic conflict resolution logic to handle simultaneous data updates, favoring the most recent change.
In a hackathon environment, quick thinking and pragmatic solutions are essential. While we addressed the bug in a limited timeframe, it served as a valuable lesson on the significance of data synchronization in real-time applications, ultimately leading to a more sophisticated solution in the project's hackathon development phase.
