The current state of electronic voting systems faces critical challenges, including issues of security, transparency, and trust, which undermine the democratic integrity of electoral processes. Traditional electronic voting machines (EVMs) exhibit vulnerabilities to tampering, insider manipulations, and external threats, raising concerns about the accuracy and fairness of election results. Furthermore, the lack of a robust mechanism for securely recording, storing, and verifying votes contributes to skepticism among voters and stakeholders.
In order to address these challenges, there is a pressing need for a more secure and transparent electronic voting system. The application of blockchain technology presents a potential solution, yet the integration of blockchain in electronic voting systems requires careful consideration. Challenges include ensuring user-friendly interfaces, maintaining voter anonymity, preventing double voting, and establishing a secure and decentralized infrastructure. Additionally, questions regarding regulatory frameworks, public awareness, and the scalability of blockchain in the context of large-scale elections need to be thoroughly addressed.
Hence, the problem at hand is to devise and implement a blockchain-based electronic voting system that effectively addresses existing vulnerabilities, instills confidence in voters, and ensures the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
As the blockchain is a complex field of technology it was difficult to understand it for the fulfillment of the objective due to requirement of understanding of multiple tools such as Ethereum etc.
Also it was difficult to explore the feasable implimentation of the project due to its high capital requirement along with chances of error
