Untangle Your Finances

The problem CredEase solves

Effectively managing personal finances, particularly micro-debts such as credit card balances and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) loans, along with recurring expenses like subscriptions and utility bills, is a persistent challenge for individuals, often leading to financial stress and inefficient budgeting.
• Lack of Awareness: Many individuals remain unaware of hidden loans, high-interest rates, and how debt affects their financial well-being.
• Inefficient Debt Management: People struggle to prioritize paying off high-interest debts, leading to increased financial burden.
• Subscription Overlap: Unmanaged subscriptions lead to unnecessary deductions, adding to financial stress.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Linking Screens & Defining App Flow
One of the biggest hurdles was deciding how users navigate through the app—which screens to link and what actions should be prioritized. Some flows felt unnatural or had too many steps.
Solution: We conducted user flow mapping using Figma prototypes and iterated based on usability testing. We ensured a logical, minimal-click journey for smooth navigation.

  2. Designing a Dark-Themed Yet Readable UI
A major challenge was ensuring optimal contrast in a dark UI. Initially, some elements lacked visibility due to low contrast ratios, making financial data hard to read.
Solution: We refined the color palette using WCAG contrast guidelines, ensuring important text and figures (like balance & expenses) had enough brightness and spacing to remain legible.

  3. Overcrowding vs. Minimalism
We wanted to include rich financial insights (cash flow trends, forecasts, categories, burn rate) without overwhelming users.
Solution: We prioritized hierarchy—using progressive disclosure, toggles, and interactive elements to reveal details only when needed.

  4. Complex Data Visualization in a Mobile Frame
Fitting line charts, pie charts, and bar graphs inside a small mobile viewport was tricky without making it cluttered.
Solution: We designed scrollable and swipe-friendly charts while ensuring key insights remained visible upfront.

  5. Ensuring Figma Compatibility for Quick Edits
Exporting directly from design tools sometimes caused alignment issues when pasting into Figma.
Solution: We structured elements with proper SVG grouping and used Figma auto-layout principles for smooth modifications.
