Copy Trade US Politicians

The problem Crates solves

Crates allows users to copy trade top US Politician portfolios directly, from anywhere in the world.

Throughout history, those with insider knowledge (whether its legal or not) always end up making the most money, and the rest of us are left to guesses. This is clear when you've seen how well Politician portfolios like Nancy Pelosi's have done over the years.

Now the good thing is that they have to publicise their trades, every quarter. However, there was no way for users outside US to be able to use the information to invest in the US stocks themselves, but now with onchain stock providers like Dinari, we are able to allow anyone to purchase US equities from anywhere. In Crates, we form baskets of stocks as per the portfolio of different politicians and allow users to copy trade them.

In the future, anyone can launch their own portfolio and let retail users subscribe to their portfolio for a fee and help them make more returns.

Challenges I ran into

Main challenges was to automate rebalncing a portfolio when it changes. For example if Nancy Pelosi sells/buys a portion of her portfolio, to manage it automatically for the user on our end was the biggest challenge.

The solution was to maintain a lot of states of the user's portfolio to proportionally equate it directly to the Politician's portfolio no matter the USD amount invested.

What is your product’s unique value proposition?

Users don’t have to research, rebalance, or chase headlines, they just pick a politician-themed Crate and the app mirrors disclosed trades and policy signals into live weights. Behind the scenes, your backend buys the underlying US stocks in those weights, so users effectively “copy-trade” policy exposure with one tap.

Why this stands out:

  • Zero-research mode – Curated, rules-based themes (e.g., Energy & Permitting, Defense & Aerospace) that auto-update from public disclosures and calendars. No watchlists, no manual rebalancing.

  • Copythe policy edge – Baskets track disclosed politician activity and policy agendas; users ride the same thematic tilts without building data pipelines.

  • Direct ownership – When a user invests, the backend purchases the underlying stocks at the specified weightage; users hold real equities, not a vague “synthetic” score.

  • Always-on rebalancing – Weight changes propagate automatically when new signals land; users stay aligned without touching a slider.

  • Global on-ramp to US equities – One flow for users outside the US to access themed US stock exposure (with fractional shares and local rails where available).

  • Portable signal – Even without buying, users can follow a Crate and use rebalances as timing/sizing signals in their own broker.

How the alpha build proves it

One-tap themed buy
Prebuilt politician themes with a “Buy this Crate” flow that places underlying US stock orders in the target weights. No manual assembly.

Auto-sync to disclosures
New filings or agenda changes trigger a rules engine → weight diffs → automatic rebalance proposal → executed update; users see the change, not the plumbing.

Live provenance & explainability
Every weight change shows a reason tag and before/after snapshot. Users can trust the automation because they can inspect it instantly.

Global readiness
Accounts, KYC, and funding paths set up for non-US users; fractional share support; clear currency handling. “From INR/BRL/NGN to US themed exposure” in one path.

Frictionless follow
Users can “Follow” a Crate for free to receive signal updates; when they’re ready, a single tap converts that signal into ownership.

Who is your target customer?

Primary (Tier 1)

Global retail investors without seamless US access
India, LATAM, Africa, SEA. Want US equity exposure but avoid research and upkeep. Jobs-to-be-done: “Give me a one-tap, rules-based US basket I can hold long-term.”

Policy-curious retail in US/EU
Follow politics/markets but don’t want to hand-curate portfolios. JTBD: “Mirror disclosed trades/themes without spreadsheets.”

Time-poor professionals
Tech/finance adjacent; comfortable with apps, not with day-to-day rebalancing. JTBD: “Automate the boring parts. Notify me when it really matters.”

Secondary (Tier 2)

Creators/analysts who publish theses and want transparent, rules-based baskets their audience can subscribe to.

Expats & cross-border earners seeking USD-denominated exposure via fractional shares.

Who are your closest competitors and how are you different?

Quiver Quant - politician trades dashboards & strategies: https://www.quiverquant.com/politicians/
and Congress Trading: https://www.quiverquant.com/congresstrading/
(offers copytrading of their strategies via Quantbase, but not one-tap themed stock baskets).

Crates differentation is:

Global access (onchain) → direct ownership. Users outside the US can follow a politician-theme and buy the underlying US stocks fractionally in one flow (vs. partner-only routes or US-listed ETFs).

Auto-rebalancing on disclosures. Holdings update from rules tied to filings/committee calendars; users don’t think or tinker, allocations stay aligned by default.

Provenance + transparency. Every weight change carries a reason tag and before/after diff; that level of per-event explainability isn’t how the competition operate.

What is your distribution strategy and why?

  1. Owned “Politician Tracker” socials

What: X/IG/YouTube Shorts profiles that post weekly P&L, weight-diffs, and “policy pulse” cards for each theme.
Why it fits: proof beats persuasion. The product’s hook is “don’t think just copy the theme.” Showing live results and transparent diffs builds trust and habit, then converts that attention to follows and buys.

  1. Creator UGC

What: finance/policy creators post 15–60s reels of “I just copied the Defense & Aerospace basket in two taps,” with your rule cards and provenance overlays; each has a trackable link.
Why it fits: low-cognition purchase benefits from a familiar face demoing the flow. UGC gives social proof at a lower CAC than polished brand ads, and creators can publish their own public Crates for ongoing content.

  1. Performance ads (tight, intent-led)

What: search + short-video ads like “Invest in US stocks from {country}. Copy politician themes in one tap.” Land on Follow first (no KYC), then nudge to buy on first rebalance alert.
Why it fits: captures global, high-intent demand (“invest in US stocks”, “politician stock tracker”) and routes skeptics through a zero-commit step that matches our “set-and-forget” promise.
