The increase in counterfeit goods sold by third-party vendors on platforms like Amazon and OLX presents a growing challenge, eroding trust and jeopardizing consumer safety. This fraudulent activity not only impacts sales and brand reputation but also poses risks to unsuspecting customers. To combat this, we propose a solution where original manufacturers input detailed product information, including a unique ID, on a dedicated website. By integrating blockchain technology, each product is assigned a token, enhancing transparency and enabling consumers to verify authenticity through barcode scanning. This innovative approach aims to restore trust, protect brands, and empower consumers with reliable product information.
It was difficult for us to figure out how the bartcode can not be plagiarised for a fake product. We came up with the idea that if we transfer the ownership of the product each time someone buys it, we can maintain its authenticity. If the barcode is forged we will still be able to track the original owner.
We also faced challenges in making the blockchain transactions as it kept throwing errors.
