The problem College Hub solves
As a 4th-year student, many people are unsure about what to do for placements and are unaware of what their peers are doing. Since LinkedIn is a vast platform, it can be difficult to track relevant information.
Our platform is designed specifically for college students, providing a structured space where colleges can encourage students to complete their profiles with essential details. This not only helps students showcase their achievements but also allows others to gain insights from their experiences. Additionally, colleges can use the platform to share important announcements and placement-related updates, ensuring that all 3rd and 4th-year students stay informed and prepared.

One of the major challenges we faced while building this project was ensuring real-time updates for placement announcements and student profiles. Initially, we relied on traditional API polling, but this led to performance issues and unnecessary network requests.
How We Overcame It:
We implemented WebSockets to enable real-time communication between the server and clients.
Optimized database queries to reduce response times for fetching student profiles and placement updates.
Used caching mechanisms like Redis to handle frequently accessed data efficiently.
Another hurdle was ensuring user engagement—many students were hesitant to fill out their profiles. To address this, we introduced a gamification system with progress indicators and incentives to encourage profile completion.
By tackling these issues, we improved both performance and user adoption, making the platform more effective for students and colleges alike.
