Transparent civic works. Stronger communities.

The problem CivicArk solves

Public infrastructure information is often fragmented across contracts, work updates, complaint channels, and local records. Residents may see a damaged road but have no clear way to connect it to the responsible work, while officials and contractors need a shared way to review reports and track follow-up.
CivicArk is a civic works prototype for Mumbai that brings public-work records and location-based issue reporting into one interface. Residents can explore works and report issues such as potholes, while operational roles can review records and follow a report through a proposed review-and-resolution workflow. The app uses a live map with OpenStreetMap tiles and BMC ward boundaries, and Arkiv Tiramisu testnet for queryable civic records.
CivicArk is a testnet prototype, not an official municipal service. On-chain writes require a connected wallet and test GLM; the live map may have no current reports in some areas.

Challenges I ran into

A key challenge was designing a record format that is both readable by the application and filterable on Arkiv. CivicArk separates queryable typed attributes—such as record type, ward, status, and severity—from the record payload, which holds the fuller details.
Another challenge was aligning the workflow with Arkiv’s ownership model. Reading public entities is straightforward, but patching an existing entity requires its owner’s wallet. That means a multi-role civic workflow cannot safely assume that any role can edit any report. The current prototype exposes this as a limitation to address through owner-authorized updates or a follow-up event-record design.
I also had to distinguish live map data from sample or illustrative UI. The map uses OpenStreetMap and BMC ward geography; workflow graphics are illustrative, and should not be mistaken for live municipal activity.
