The problem CitizenSci solves
Problems worth solving
Why a citizen science protocol is needed to bridge web2 citizen science projects to web3?
For citizen's participating in science:
- Most environmental citizen science projects ends after the funding period.
- Citizen science contributions are rarely recognized.
- Citizen science contribution payments are rarely adequately organized.
- Data contributed to citizen science projects have very low traceability and does not encourage practice for open science.
- Taxpayer money that goes into research and the results of data collection for research are mostly managed in a centralized manner.
- Taxpayer money that goes into research and the results of data collection for research are sometimes stored for privatized purposes.
Challenges we ran into
Unfriendly access for users:
We tried to use the Pinata Account Submarine.me function, but then we discovered that it's only available to Pinata customers with a paid plan and a Dedicated Gateway. This is not very practical because our users do not need to sign in to Pinata often, so having a paid plan for the users and not hosts is not very user-friendly.
