Why are you participating for Based Africa?
My motivation for participating in Based Africa stems from my passion for contributing to Africa’s growing tech ecosystem. As a Ghanaian, I am deeply connected to the region and committed to leveraging technology to solve local challenges. I believe platforms like Based Africa provide invaluable opportunities to showcase African talent, foster collaboration, and drive innovation across the continent. By participating, I aim to be part of the movement that transforms Africa into a global tech hub, while learning from and contributing to the community of forward-thinking developers.
What challenges are you focusing on?
With the help of Base, I aim to address the challenge of limited access to secure and transparent financial systems in my community, especially for freelancers and small business owners. Many individuals struggle with trust issues, payment delays, and lack of proper infrastructure to support seamless transactions. By leveraging Base’s blockchain technology, I plan to create decentralized solutions that promote secure, fast, and transparent transactions. This will empower freelancers, entrepreneurs, and creatives to manage projects, receive payments, and build trust with clients locally and globally.
How does your submission address this challenge?
My project, FreelanceChain, is a decentralized freelancing platform built on blockchain technology, aiming to solve trust and payment issues faced by freelancers and small business owners in my community. By using smart contracts, the platform ensures that payments are securely held in escrow and automatically released once agreed-upon project milestones are completed. This eliminates the risk of payment delays and disputes, providing transparency and security for both clients and freelancers. FreelanceChain empowers creatives and entrepreneurs by fostering secure connections and streamlining project management, which will help build trust and boost economic opportunities in the region.
Challenges I ran into
Integrating MetaMask for wallet connection and transaction management was initially challenging, as i faced issues with wallet authentication and transaction handling.
Since high gas fees can deter users, I am tryimg to optimize the smart contract to minimize gas usage, and i implemented a layer-2 scaling-smart wallet solution to reduce transaction costs for users on the platform.
