CertifY

Document verification made easy and reliable

The problem CertifY solves

The foundation of the project began with how difficult it is to get a reliable certificate or to get any certificate verified in today’s world. Our idea is to verify documents using blockchain which can significantly simplify both these tasks for the end user.We are leveraging blockchain technology to store and verify documents.
The university or document issuing authority can access the file upload system and can issue certificates. Each created certificate will be stored in the Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS) which in turn will return the unique hash generated. This will serve as a unique identity for each document. This generated hash will be stored on the blockchain and will also be shared with the student. A website would be created where students can view all their certificate hashes using their ethereum wallets. A public portal for verification will also be created. Anyone can access the verification portal and enter the hash provided to them by the student. Once this unique hash is entered the system will check if the entered hash exists on the blockchain. Once verified that the unique hash was indeed uploaded by the university, the person will be provided with a link to the original copy of the certificate stored on the IPFS network.

Challenges we ran into

We first had issues with storing our files on IPFS. Also, we were used to working with Ganache, locally hosted website and we encountered challenges while deploying our live web3 website on Azure.
