Super platform to create and manage event and certificate
Why are you participating for Based SEA?
We are participating in Based SEA because we believe in leveraging blockchain technology to solve real-world challenges in our local community. This hackathon provides a unique opportunity to build innovative, onchain solutions that can drive positive impact, increase accessibility, and empower individuals and businesses in Southeast Asia. We are excited to contribute to a better future onchain while learning and collaborating with other builders in the region.
What challenges are you focusing on?
We are focusing on the challenge of inefficient and insecure credential verification in education and professional industries. Traditional certification systems are prone to fraud, difficult to verify, and often lack accessibility. By utilizing blockchain technology, specifically blockchain certificates, we aim to create a more secure, transparent, and verifiable solution for credentialing. This will improve trust and streamline the process of issuing, sharing, and verifying credentials in our community.
How does your submission address this challenge?
Our project addresses the challenge of credential verification by creating a blockchain-based certificate platform. This platform enables institutions to issue tamper-proof digital certificates, ensuring that credentials are secure, verifiable, and easily accessible by anyone. It eliminates the risk of fraud and simplifies the verification process for employers, educational institutions, and other relevant parties. The potential impact includes increased trust in issued credentials, more efficient hiring processes, and wider access to verified educational and professional records. This will empower individuals to showcase their legitimate achievements without the hassle of traditional verification methods.
Challenges we ran into
One of the key technical hurdles we faced was integrating blockchain technology with existing credential systems while ensuring ease of use for non-technical users. Many educational and professional institutions are not familiar with blockchain, so creating a user-friendly interface was essential to drive adoption.
Solution:
We overcame this by implementing an intuitive front-end interface that abstracts the complexity of blockchain interactions, making it simple for institutions to issue and verify certificates without needing in-depth technical knowledge. Additionally, we integrated Smart Wallets to streamline the process of issuing credentials, allowing users to interact with the platform seamlessly.
Another challenge was ensuring the privacy and security of sensitive personal data associated with credentials while storing information onchain.
Solution:
We addressed this by using a hybrid approach: storing the credentials' metadata onchain for verification while encrypting sensitive information and keeping it off-chain. This ensures that only authorized individuals can access the full credential data without compromising the transparency and security benefits of blockchain.
Finally, a non-technical hurdle we encountered was raising awareness and trust in blockchain-based credentials, as many institutions are skeptical about adopting new technologies.
Solution:
We focused on educating stakeholders through workshops and demonstrations, showing how blockchain can enhance security and trust while reducing administrative overhead. This helped to build confidence in our solution.
Additional Features
During the Buildathon, we added several key features to enhance our blockchain certificate platform:
Smart Wallet Integration: We implemented Smart Wallet functionality to simplify user interactions with the platform, making it easier for institutions to issue certificates and for users to access and manage their credentials.
Basenames Implementation: We integrated Basenames to allow users and institutions to create unique, verifiable identifiers for credentials, further enhancing the authenticity and ease of verification.
Proof of Transaction on Base: We transitioned our credential issuance and verification processes to the Base mainnet, ensuring all transactions are transparent, immutable, and verifiable.
Improved User Interface: We focused on making the platform more user-friendly, with a redesigned interface to streamline certificate issuance and verification for both technical and non-technical users.
These new features significantly improved the platform's usability, accessibility, and alignment with the onchain ecosystem.
