The problem Celo-SimplyBook solves

Event no shows? No problem. Meet SimplyBook—a Celo-based event management app that delivers higher event participation rates by asking registrants to stake some money to confirm their spot.

Event Organizers often face problems in estimating participation in their events which often leads to mismanagement and wastage of resources. Be it free or paid, there are numerous events where people just register for the event but don’t show up on the main day. This not only results in vacant seats but also some serious participants don’t get the opportunity to attend the event due to limited seats.

This is what SimplyBook aims to solve. But How?

SimplyBook asks a participant to commit a small amount of CELO when they RSVP, which is refunded after they check-in the event. This limits dummy participation and only serious participants register for the event.

This helps the event organizers to know the exact number of people who will show up at the event and allows them to adjust the event ost accordingly while improving the chance of filling the event to capacity.

Moreover, there is a chance for the participants to earn some CELO. We could incentivize the seriousness and commitment of a participant towards the event. Let’s say 100 participants registered for the event and only 80 showed up. So we could redistribute the money of 20 people who didn’t show up among all the other participants.

Challenges I ran into
