The problem Catamenia solves

Period tracking is the process of keeping track of menstrual cycles and any related symptoms or observations. While period tracking can be a helpful tool for people who experience periods, a lack of period tracking can lead to a number of problems. One of the main problems that can occur is difficulty predicting when the next period will start. This can be especially challenging for people with irregular periods, as they may not have a clear pattern to their cycles. This can make it difficult to plan activities, manage period products, and identify potential health issues. A lack of data on menstrual cycles can make it difficult to understand and address public health issues related to periods, such as the lack of access to period products in certain communities. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that affects people who have periods. It is characterized by the presence of small cysts on the ovaries and causes symptoms including irregular periods, excess hair growth, acne, and fertility problems. The lack of awareness about PCOS is a significant problem that can prevent people from getting a diagnosis and proper treatment. Reducing stigma, and increasing support can help more people with PCOS get the help they need to manage the disorder and improve their overall health. There is often a stigma surrounding periods, which can make it difficult for people to talk about their period tracking and seek help when needed. Overall, while period tracking can be a useful tool, there are several problems that can make it difficult for people to effectively track their periods. Addressing these issues and improving the quality of period health apps that incorporate emerging technology to achieve higher accuracy, performance and effectiveness is the need of the hour.

Challenges we ran into

The project Catamenia was a very challenging project. We faced various technical problems during integration of different components. We also faced version and compatibility errors. To solve these, we went through the documentation of these components. This gave us a clearer understanding of the tech stack which will definitely help us in further projects.
Another major challenge was time management and division of tasks. We only had 30 hours to develop the web application, and many features we wanted to include. This tested our team management and communication skills as well. We worked together to solve all the errors and made sure all team members had a clear understanding of all the components of the project.
