The problem CareQueue solves
CareQueue is an intelligent system that simplifies clinic visits for all by eliminating confusing wait lines with a transparent, automated process.
For Patients: It makes you feel at ease by displaying real-time, predictable wait times, so you will exactly know how long you have to wait.
For Staff: It automates tedious tasks such as scheduling and paged patients, allowing staff to devote more time to delivering improved care.
For Managers: It gives them easy-to-understand data and insights to better comprehend clinic performance, avoid slowdowns, and make more intelligent operating decisions.
Challenges we ran into
Challenge: Creating One System for Various Users
One of our greatest design challenges was developing one unified, cohesive system for two very disparate users: the data-craving clinic administrator and the worried patient. The admin interface had to be a rich, robust dashboard, but the patient interface had to be very simple and soothing and display only their own wait time.
The Hurdle & Our Solution
The biggest risk was making sure these two disparate interfaces would always remain perfectly synchronized. We addressed this upfront in planning by designing a "single source of truth" for all queue data.
We diagrammed out a centralized flow of data to make sure that when an admin does something, the admin and patient views both immediately mirror the change. In Figma, we designed two different, user-focused prototypes—one complicated for the admin, one simple and mobile-sourced for the patient—that both borrowed from this core model. By utilizing a common library of design elements such as colors and status badges, we were able to replicate a coherent brand experience and have a rock-solid design for a smooth and consistent experience.
