The problem CareQueue solves
CareQueue is a map-first, community-based platform that aims to make healthcare clinics more accessible in local neighborhoods by giving users up-to-date information on queues, wait times, and availability. Patients can immediately see clinics around them on an interactive map, see current waiting times, ask for a slot, and even chat with the clinic staff for answers. The platform also offers driving or walking directions to clinics, making the process easier for students, working professionals, and families who are in a new city. Clinics, meanwhile, get an admin panel that is simple to operate and enables receptionists to manage queues, update wait times, tag priorities, and send notifications to patients. By synchronizing real-time updates with open communication, CareQueue decreases patient anxiety, avoids congestion, enhances efficiency in clinics, and creates a safe, inclusive healthcare environment that enables even small neighborhood clinics to engage in a city-wide digital network.
Challenges we ran into
Implementation and Timeline(48 hrs):
Day 1 (0–24 hrs):
0–4 hrs – Planning & Setup:
- Finalize core features (map, queue, booking). - Setup project repo + environment (frontend + backend).
4–12 hrs – Backend Development:
- Build APIs for patient registration, queue management. - Setup database (patients, clinics, queues).
12–24 hrs – Patient App (Frontend):
- Integrate MapLibre/Google Maps. - Display nearby clinics + dummy wait times. - Implement slot booking UI.
Day 2 (24–48 hrs):
24–32 hrs – Admin Panel (Frontend):
- Build dashboard for queue updates. - Add features: priority tagging, delay alerts.
32–42 hrs – Real-Time Features:
- Enable WebSocket/Firebase for live updates. - Patient ↔ Clinic chat integration.
42–48 hrs – Testing & Demo Prep:
- Test end-to-end flow (Patient app → Backend → Admin panel). - Prepare demo video/screenshots + PPT polish.
