The problem Skill Development Platform Powered by AI solves

This AI-powered mentorship and skill development platform addresses the growing gap between education and employability.

It helps users identify their skill gaps through real-time AI-based assessments.

It recommends personalized YouTube learning resources based on those gaps, saving time searching for relevant content.

It connects learners with industry mentors, enabling hands-on guidance that traditional learning methods lack.

It tracks user progress and provides automated feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

Overall, it makes learning more adaptive, targeted, and effective, ultimately increasing users' job readiness and career confidence.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of this project, we encountered multiple technical and design challenges:

Web Scraping Limits: Some YouTube content had dynamic loading or geo-restrictions. We resolved this by handling pagination and using headless browsers with Selenium.

API Rate Limits: The Gemini AI API had call limits, so we implemented caching and request batching.

State Management in React: Managing quiz data across multiple components became complex. We overcame this using React Context for global state.

Mentor Matching Logic: Creating a relevant mentor-user mapping required multiple iterations of logic tuning and validation based on user skill level and track.

Performance Optimization: MongoDB queries needed indexing and optimization to handle concurrent users efficiently.

Despite these hurdles, modular design and collaborative debugging helped us complete a robust and scalable platform.
