The problem Career Catalyst solves
Career Catalyst streamlines the hiring process by allowing recruiters to create job openings and rank applicants based on AI-driven resume and cover letter analysis. Job seekers get real-time feedback on their applications, improving their chances of landing the right job. This eliminates manual screening, enhances hiring efficiency, and ensures better job-candidate matching.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was designing an accurate and unbiased AI model for resume ranking. We tackled this by integrating OpenAI/GPT for semantic analysis, fine-tuning it with job-market data, and implementing fairness checks to prevent biases in candidate evaluation. Another hurdle was optimizing database queries for fast ranking, which we solved using indexing and caching techniques.
