Early breast health screening using 3D and AI.

The problem CareDetect solves

1 out of 8 women are at a certain risk of breast cancer, but detection at an early stage in India is often not possible due to the expensive nature of a mammography test, dependence on clinics, and geographical challenges such as rural and semi-urban scenarios. **CareDetect **provides an opportunity for a risk assessment test to be conducted at a very early stage, at a person’s own place, which is cost-effective, convenient, and easy to use repeatedly. The biochemical sweat test, which is cost-effective, is analyzed by AI on the device. A fully digital solution uses symptoms, menstrual history, family history, lifestyle, and an interactive 3D model of the breast to better understand the problem, generate a personalized risk score with clear next steps, and provide optional user feedback to continuously improve the model over time.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was working with the 3D renderable model in an AR/VR environment. Initially, the model was heavy and caused lag, slow loading, and interaction issues, which affected the overall user experience.

To overcome this, I optimized the 3D assets by reducing mesh complexity and improving rendering efficiency, while still maintaining visual clarity. I also tested the model repeatedly to ensure smooth interaction across devices.

Another challenge was making the 3D visualization easy to understand rather than overwhelming. This was solved by simplifying the structure and designing the interaction flow in a more intuitive way, so users can explore the model without confusion.
